【Reflection】
At this event, we showcased best practices in Intellectual
Property(IP) utilization that contributed to resolving social
issues -such as I-OPEN Project, IP support initiatives by
Kansai Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry, INPIT, etc.-
through panel exhibition, interactive experience, and stage
events. During the event period, a total of approximately
53,000 visitors attended. The results of survey conducted at
the venue are summarized below.
Survey Results:
- 95 % of the respondents agreed or somewhat agreed that IP is
effective in resolving social issues.
- 65% of the respondents felt or somewhat felt that they have
the potential to create IP themselves.
- 91 % of the respondents were satisfied or somewhat satisfied
with the event.
Additional comments from the respondents (excerpted):
- “I used to think of IP as something that restricts others
from using inventions, but through this event, I learned how
IP can be utilized.
- “I realized that IP plays a key role in solving social
issues.
With “The Seed of Intellectual Property Ticket” in hand,
visitors explored the exhibition venue discovering various
insights as they moved through the displays. At the end of the
exhibition, they received original Seed of Intellectual
Property stickers and other handouts. This type of experience
contributed to the strong positive response the event
received, allowing visitors to enjoy themselves while feeling
a closer connection to IP.
At the venue, visitors had opportunities to interact with
exhibiting companies, who provided clear explanations of their
technologies and initiatives. Through these interactive
opportunities、we believe the exhibition helped visitors
deepen their understanding of IP.
Additionally, guided tours conducted by JPO officials for
registered participants received positive feedback, including
comments such as “The guide’s explanation was very clear and
easy to understand. The tour was useful.”
Furthermore, on October 9 and 10, stage events related to the
I-OPEN project were held at the venue, attracting
approximately 1,000 participants. Through talk shows and
demonstrations of the mentoring process used in the JPO’s
I-OPEN project, visitors were able to experience how ideas are
brought to life and learn about the unique business
initiatives supported by I-OPEN project (I-OPENERs). In
addition, we held events aimed at younger generations and
educational institutions to foster interest in the multiplier
effect of IP and its role in solving social issues.
【Post EXPO Initiatives】
Following the event, in order to further embed the philosophy
and activities of the I-OPEN Project—solving social issues
through the use of intellectual property—into society, it is
essential to gain broader support and collaboration. As a next
step, we plan to hold I-OPNE JUKU, a training event for
entrepreneurs who aspire to solve social issues. The program
will be developed based on ideas generated during the “I-OPEN
Co-Challenge” stage session held at this event.
To promote the autonomous growth of the I-OPEN project, we are
also considering offering free licenses for the trademarks
“I-OPEN” and “I-OPENER”, held by the JPO, to project
collaborators. This initiative aims to expand the reach and
impact of I-OPEN activities.
As part of our ongoing efforts, we will continue to
communicate the value of IP, focusing on the social issues and
IP applications that drew significant interest during the
event.
