Programme details
This exhibition will be held at EXPO Messe “WASSE” with the aim of promoting new business development and overseas expansion of domestic SMEs. During the exhibition period, SMEs with future-thinking products, technologies, and manufacturing techniques will be introduced through hands-on exhibits, and their appeal will be communicated to the domestic and global markets. The exhibits will be designed to resemble “challengers sailing into the unknown ocean while overcoming difficulties” as SMEs take on the challenge of solving social issues by leveraging their strengths and moving forward into the future. Through the exhibition, visitors will be able to experience the technologies and ideas of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and learn about the appeal and value of SMEs in realizing the future society to the world.
Reports
【Reflection】
This event aimed to showcase the challenges and appeal of
Japanese small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) possessing
future-oriented products, services, and technologies aligned
with the “Laboratory for Future Society” concept of the 2025
Osaka-Kansai Expo. It featured hands-on exhibits of products
and services tackling social issues from 83 SMEs gathered
nationwide, along with displays of over 1,800 challenge
messages for future society submitted by SMEs.
From October 3 to October 7, a total of 34,960 visitors
attended. Feedback included comments such as: “I learned about
advanced technologies I didn't know existed,” “It was so
substantial I wish it were a permanent exhibition,” “The
science and technology of Japanese SMEs is amazing,” and “We
want to join in doing what we can to solve issues like
environmental problems.”
Notable achievements included facilitating collaborations
between participating companies and major corporations sparked
by the exhibition. Additionally, during the Expo's theme
weeks, an off-site overseas CEO business meeting generated
1,272 new business matchings, contributing to creating
business opportunities through the Osaka-Kansai Expo.
This initiative provided an opportunity for domestic and
international visitors, who are not typically reached, to
recognize the value and appeal of Japan's SMEs, which
cannot be measured by company size alone.
【Post EXPO Initiatives】
For those unable to attend the exhibition during the event
period, and for those wishing to review the exhibits, we plan
to release 3D video content showcasing the exhibits in
collaboration with participating companies. Furthermore, the
Small and Medium Enterprise Agency will work to create further
business opportunities for Japanese SMEs both domestically and
internationally. This includes strengthening support menus
such as networking events, J-GoodTech (online exhibition), and
overseas CEO business meetings for future-oriented SMEs in
areas previously underserved.
