Programme details
IVS2025, Japan's leading startup conference, brings
together heritage and innovation on a global stage. Under the
vision "CATALYST FOR THE NEXT GENERATION," the event
gathers entrepreneurs, researchers, investors, and government
leaders for talks, networking, and pitch sessions. By
exploring cutting-edge technology, market trends, and global
challenges, IVS2025 fosters new business creation and supports
innovators shaping the future.
This year, a new Deep Tech area will be introduced, focusing
on breakthrough solutions to critical global issues through
long-term research and development.
Reports
【Reflection】
We hosted a global startup conference featuring talk sessions,
networking events, and pitch sessions with diverse
participants including entrepreneurs, researchers, investors,
and government officials, attracting a record-breaking
attendance of over 13,000 people.
This year's IVS, themed “Reshape Japan with Global
Minds,” was held in Kyoto—a place where history meets
cutting-edge technology—aiming to co-create and rebuild
Japan's future while incorporating global trends.
Through the event, we shared insights on the forefront of
social challenges and market needs both domestically and
internationally, while also sharing solutions to these
challenges. Specifically, we covered topics such as “The State
of Global Food Issues” and “Startup Implementation Cases for
Solving Social Challenges,” providing participants with
multifaceted perspectives. Furthermore, by exposing attendees
to new technologies through booth exhibitions and sessions,
and by fostering the emergence of new ventures, we supported
the growth of innovators tackling global challenges.
Attendees, exhibitors, and speakers from many countries,
including the United States, China, and South Korea, joined
us. Each reexamined social issues from their unique
perspectives, creating opportunities to collectively envision
“the present and what lies beyond” and foster co-creation.
Moreover, the newly established “Deep Tech Area” introduced
initiatives tackling severe global challenges. It shared
awareness of issues and solutions leveraging new technologies
across diverse fields: sustainable food provision through food
tech, next-generation clean power via climate tech, and health
tech addressing challenges like aging populations, labor
shortages, and rising healthcare costs. Interactions with
participants also led to concrete matchmaking and
collaboration opportunities, paving the way for creating
forward-looking solutions.
Moving forward, we will further encourage international
participation, promote multilingual support, and strengthen
global partnerships to foster new business creation from a
worldwide perspective.
【Post EXPO Initiatives】
Through follow-up with event exhibitors and participants, we
identify best practices and provide ongoing support to advance
concrete exit strategies. We also gather feedback on
challenges and areas for improvement to inform future
enhancements.
Furthermore, Kyoto Prefecture will participate in the startup
exhibition “Global Startup EXPO 2025 (GSE)” held within the
Osaka-Kansai Expo grounds on September 17 and 18. With an eye
toward achieving the SDGs and the future beyond, we are
providing development and deployment support for creating
sustainable solutions from the perspective of “global
challenges × startups.”
