Nikkei Social Innovation Forum: Circular Economy Symposium ~A Circular Society That Changes the Future~
NIKKEI
The circular economy is an economic system that aims to achieve a sustainable society by moving away from the traditional model of mass production, mass consumption, and mass disposal, and instead promoting the cyclical use of resources. This is particularly important for Japan, which has a high dependency on overseas resources. At the Expo, which is attracting global attention, we will share the efforts and future prospects of industry, government, and academia regarding the circular economy.

Reports
【Reflection】
In resource-dependent Japan, transitioning to a circular
economy is a crucial issue. In this program, representatives
from industry, government, and academia gave lectures on
topics such as 'What is a circular society?',
'What is needed to achieve it?', and 'What
kinds of initiatives are being undertaken?'. Even for
those hearing the term 'circular economy' for the
first time, we believe the discussions provided an opportunity
to deepen their interest.
【Post EXPO Initiatives】
Nikkei Inc. has previously hosted symposiums on the circular
economy, and we believe that continued information
dissemination is essential. This field requires strong
collaboration between industry, government, and academia, and
as public interest is expected to grow, we feel it is
increasingly important to maintain our efforts.
