2026.04.30 “Sustainability Report of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan(Post-Event Report)” Released

The Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition (hereinafter referred to as “the Association”), is pleased to publish the “Sustainability Report of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan (Post-Event Report)” in order to provide direction for resolving challenges for similar projects to be undertaken in the future and to contribute to the creation of sustainable technologies and societies.

For sustainable operation of the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, the Association established the ESMS (Event Sustainability Management System) based on the international standard ISO20121.

Furthermore, “Expert Committee for the Sustainable Expo” was established in December 2021 to examine measures to achieve sustainability through the preparation and operation of the Expo. The expert committee provided opinions and suggestions from an expert perspective on areas that should be considered from the viewpoint of sustainability, such as decarbonization, resource recycling, and at the same time discusses sustainable Expo management.

This report was published based on the discussions at the 13th Expert Committee meeting held on March 23, 2026. The report summarizes the progress and challenges of the efforts made to realize the sustainable Expo. The report is published as follows.
