2022.09.07 Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan “Future Society Showcase Project Exhibition” Sponsor companies Announced – Three projects “Expo Virtual Venue”, Personal Agent for Visitors” and “EV Bus for Visitors Mobility”

The Association for the 2025 Japan World Exposition has announced the names of the sponsor companies of the three projects “Expo Virtual Venue”, “Personal Agent for Visitors” and “EV Bus for Visitors Mobility” for “Future Society Showcase Project Exhibition” in Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan.
On August 19, 2021, the Association held a briefing session on exhibition participation for companies and organizations and started the recruitment for sponsor companies for “Future Society Showcase Project Exhibition” which aims to realize a part of the future society by incorporating advanced technologies and systems while the Expo site is regarded as “People’s Living Lab.” Today, as a first step, the Association has announced the sponsor companies of the above-mentioned three projects.
Regarding the sponsorship of the “Future Society Showcase Project Exhibition”, which allows for diverse way of participation, the Association is currently discussing with a large number of companies and organizations in each project, and will announce names of new sponsor companies and organizations in a timely manner.

① About Future Society Showcase Projects
This project is a general term to mention a group of projects that provide experiences to a wide range of participants and visitors from Japan and abroad by utilizing technologies and services that support the theme of the Expo, “Designing Future Society for Our Lives” for the development, operation, exhibition, and events of the Expo site which will be a “People’s Living Lab”, in the form of “demonstration” that gives a sense of the future after 2025 and “implementation” that is suitable for Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan.,
The project consists of six projects: “Smart Mobility Expo”, “Digital Expo”, “Virtual Expo”, “Art Expo”, “Green Expo”, and “Future Life Expo”. The Association has been discussing sponsorship for each project with a large number of companies and organization.

 Virtual Expo Site【Virtual Expo】
By preparing a virtual Expo site that reproduces the Yumesima Expo site in 3DCG on the online space, and developing various initiatives that interlink the real and the virtual site in the use of virtual technologies such as AR (augmented reality) and VR (virtual reality), the attractiveness and communication power of the Expo site will be enhanced. Utilizing the technology and knowledge of the NTT Group led by NTT DOCOMO, INC., this project will realize an inclusive Expo in which people who would like to visit the real Expo site but cannot, such as those with disabilities, the elderly, those who live far away and many people around the world, can actually experience the visit to the Expo site.

▷ Personal Agent for Visitors【Digital Expo】
This is a function that guides and recommends facilities to visit and routes tailored to each visitor (proposing model routes and recommended facilities) based on each visitor’s personal attributes, action history, information of reservation, location and congestion, etc. by using smartphones and other devices at the Expo site. Leveraging the know-how of the NTT Group, led by NTT Urban Solutions Corporation, this system will provide smart experiences that allow anyone to move around the Expo site without stress, thereby this will improve the value of experiences in the Expo 2025.

▷ EV Bus for Visitors Mobility
In order to realize the smarter and cleaner mobility of a large number of Expo visitors, 100 EV (electrical) buses will be introduced as the Expo site access buses and buses inside and around the site, and a demonstration of technology that achieves both operation and charging, with the Energy Management System (EMS) integrated with the Fleet Management System (FMS), will be conducted by utilizing the know-how and technologies of the four companies of the Kansai Electric Power Company, Incorporated, Osaka Metro Co., Ltd., DAIHEN Corporation and Obayashi Corporation. In addition, with fusing new technologies such as operation at level 4 of autonomous driving and power supply while driving, next-generation mobility and its evolution will be demonstrated by conducting large-scale demonstrations that are unparalleled in the world.

This project will be implemented as a subsidized project of the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) “Green Innovation Fund Project / Building a Smart Mobility Society”.
