2022.09.09 Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan Special Edition License Plates issuance     ~ Advance Application starts from September 26~

Today, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) announced that the issuance of special edition license plates commemorating Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan will begin on October 24, 2022. Advance applications will be accepted from September 26, and will be issued to applicants nationwide for a limited period of about three years with the aim of fostering momentum for the Expo 2025.
In order to have more people use it and foster momentum, the Association will conduct PR development through various opportunities such as events.

Contents of announcement by Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism

(1) Period of issuance
・Application period: from Monday, September 26, 2022
・Period of issuance: from Monday, October 24 to Friday, December 26, 2025
(2) How to apply
You can apply from the website http://www.graphic-number.jp or contact the nearest issuance reception desk, car dealers or car maintenance factories.
(3) Applicable Vehicles
Drivers may change to a special edition license plate not only when purchasing a new or used car, but also for the car they currently have, without changing the existing plate number.
(4) Charges
As of today, issuance charges have been approved at the Regional Transportation Bureaus. The charges of special edition license plates vary depending on the regions. Example: 8,400 yen in Osaka, 8,413 yen, national average (a pair of two middle plates)
(5) Support for Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan through donations
・ The donation (1,000 yen or more) will be used to enhance transportation services related to the Expo.
※ If no donation, monotone special edition license plates will be issued.
