2023.06.02 Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, “Theme Weeks”, Theme Structure Announced, Call for Program Sponsorship Started

The Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition (hereinafter referred to as “the Association”) has announced the theme structure of “Theme Weeks”, which is to be held at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan (hereinafter referred to as “the Expo”).
The Association is now accepting applications from companies and organizations to sponsor each program of the “Agenda 2025” Theme Weeks program organized and implemented by the Association.
“Theme Weeks” are the initiative aimed at “Designing Future Society for Our Lives” together with the world by taking advantage of the characteristics of the Expo, where countries from all over the world gather in the same place for six months, bringing together wisdom to solve global issues and exploring solutions through dialogue.
Regarding the eight global issues announced today, a “Dialogue Program” that discusses global issues on a weekly basis and the “Business Exchange” that puts it into practice. That is an opportunity for the organizers, Official Participants (participating countries), Japanese and local governments, Co-creation business participants, and Expo participants such as exhibiting companies, local governments and industries all over the country to come together and discuss solutions.

Theme structure and concept of theme setting

To realize the Expo’s theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”, from the three sub-themes of the Expo, a theme structure was established to cover a wide range of global-scale issues.
・From the point of ”Saving Lives”→ Challenges that threaten people and life on Earth  
・From the point of “Empowering Lives”→ Challenges for everyone to lead happy and prosperous lives 
・From the point of “Connecting Lives”→ Challenges to enrich society
In the final week, we will discuss “SDGs+Beyond,” which will be summarized toward the main theme of the Expo, “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”.
For each theme, “Enquiries” have been set to indicate the direction of the discussion, and specific keywords have been presented as “Scope of Theme”.
In addition, three cross-cutting initiatives have been established as a gateway for intra-disciplinary discussion of each theme.

Call for Program Sponsorship

From June 2, the Association is accepting applications from companies and organizations for “Program Sponsorship” to sponsor business plans for specific programs of the Theme Weeks at any time.
The Association will announce new sponsors and organizations in due course.

■ Agenda 2025
During Theme Weeks, to send a message from the Expo to the world, the Association will take the lead in implementing a series of interactive programs and exhibitions as a series of programs with multiple sessions for each theme.

Feature 1. Cross-cutting participation of various stakeholders
Cross-stakeholder projects in collaboration with a variety of business entities participating in the Expo, including Official Participants, the Japanese government and local governments, TEAM EXPO, and exhibiting companies, as well as international conferences and other events throughout Japan.

Feature 2. Diversity and free dialogue
The interactive program consists mainly of a small group of speakers, rich in diversity of nationality, gender, and generation, who freely discuss each theme.

Feature 3. Real + Online participation from around the world
Programs can be attended in real life at the venue’s studio (under consideration) or the trade fair facility, or via the Internet online.
