During Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan (hereinafter referred to as “the Expo”), there will be congestion between Expo-related traffic and general traffic for commuting, logistics, etc., so appropriate measures must be taken.
In December 2023, the Traffic Facilitation Promotion Conference for Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan was set up with the aim of promoting the smooth transportation of Expo visitors and urban activities at the same time, by encouraging residents and businesses to work from home, stagger their work hours and bypass congested areas, etc.
At the Third Traffic Facilitation Promotion Conference held today, it was decided to conduct an Expo TDM trial period from Monday, 30 September to Friday, 4 October 2024, one year before the end of the Expo period, when the greatest concentration of visitors is expected, and to request the cooperation of companies in the Osaka area, including the areas around the Expo site and the Osaka Metro Chuo Line.
The results of this trial will be examined to improve the effectiveness of TDM initiatives during the Expo, with the aim of realising smooth movement of traffic.
