The Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition (hereinafter referred to as “the Association”) plans to publish the results of gas concentration measurements during the construction of the venue on a regular basis. The results of gas concentration measurements for September and October 2024 have now been compiled.
A summary of the measurement results is as follows;
・In the east and west toilets, where gas was previously detected, the methane gas concentration in October was low at 0.1 vol% at maximum. Work to control gas ingress at these facilities was carried out in September and October and will continue with the installation of mechanical ventilation equipment and detectors.
・51 locations were measured in September and 53 in October in the underground telecommunications equipment pits in the PW construction area. Among them, one measurement point in the area adjacent to the GW construction area exceeded the standard value. Subsequent measurements at this location have shown results within the standard value, but we plan to continue monitoring and implement ventilation measures by drilling out the lid in the future.
