A Journey Through Gambia Remembering Kunta Kinte
Located in western Africa, Gambia is a long and narrow country roughly 300 km from east to west, and 50
km from north to south.
The pavilion covers the country’s history and culture.
This includes historical videos and models for the World Heritage Site registered as ‘Kunta Kinteh Island
and Related Sites’.
Kunta Kinteh is the name of the protagonist of the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel Roots.
There is also a display and demonstration for the balafon, a percussion instrument.
