Republic of Haiti

Haiti is a pioneering country working hard for freedom and equality for all
people

The exhibit theme means that ‘Haiti is a pioneering country working hard for freedom and equality for all
people’.
Sugar cane and coffee, first brought to Haiti by Columbus in 1492, were two of the country’s major
exports until the 1980s. Now, it is mangoes, eel fries and textiles.
The pavilion also includes numerous handicrafts based on motifs of the national tree, the palm tree, in
addition to carvings, structures, photos, and books.
Traditional Haitian attire and bags are also on display, helping visitors become more familiar with Haiti.
