Lesotho is a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary system of government, having gained
independence from the UK in 1966.
The entire country lies at an altitude of 1,400 metres above sea level. Hence the name, ‘the Kingdom in
the Sky’.
Lesotho is known for abundant water resources, natural beauty, including the Maletsunyane Falls, and
hiking trails that attract tourists.
