Pearl Necklace: Stories of Atolls and Traditional Navigation
Called the ‘Pearl Necklace of the Pacific’, the Marshall Islands are comprised of 29 coral atolls and five
independent islands located between Australia and Hawaii.
Due to being surrounded by water, navigational skills developed rapidly on the islands, and the pavilion
features various exhibits, videos, and panels on traditional tools related to canoes and maritime
navigation, as well as the country’s most important plant, the coconut palm.
