Agriculture and Heritage Along the Dnipro: Exploring Ukraine’s Heartland
Ukraine, located in Eastern Europe, is a republic that gained independence from the former Soviet Union in 1991. It has abundant water resources, with large rivers crisscrossing the country, including the Dnieper River, which runs through the center. As the national flag, known as the “Flag of Independent Ukraine,”has a theory that the blue represents the sky and the gold represents wheat, more than 70% of the country is farmland, and the Dnieper River basin in particular is a globally important grain-producing region. In ancient times, there was a Scythian nation, and the historical buildings built by the Principality of Kyiv are registered as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
