2023.01.18 “Theme Weeks” at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan to be held -Call for General Sponsorships started-

The Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition (herein after referred to as the Association) will conduct “Theme Weeks” during the period of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan (herein after referred to as the Expo) as a new initiative for the Expo. Today, the Association has started calling for applications for general sponsorships of “Theme Weeks”.
“Theme Weeks” are an initiative aimed at “Designing Future Society for Our Lives” together with the world by taking advantage of the characteristics of the Expo, where countries from all over the world gather in the same place for six months, bringing together wisdom to solve global issues and exploring solutions through dialogue. Each different global issue in each week will be set, and not only the organizers but also Expo participants such as the Official Participants, the Japanese government and local governments, Co-creation project participants, and exhibition participant companies, and local governments and industries from across Japan will gather to discuss solutions in “Dialogue Program” and to carry out “Business Exchange” for concrete action.
The Association is also calling for “General Sponsors” to participate in the overall publicity promotion of “Theme Weeks” and the implementation of the “Agenda 2025” projects that the Association is working on.

About Theme Weeks

■Five implementation policies
・Themes are global issues
The themes are designed to contribute to the achievement of the SDGs and look beyond the SDGs to the future Beyond SDGs, and include a wide range of fields.
・As a general rule, a calendar is set up for each theme for a period of approximately one week.
Dates will be set based on international days, international conferences, events, etc. which are related to the theme.
・Separate tracks for each organizer to conduct their own programs
Each of the Expo participants, including the Official Participants, the Japanese government and local governments, the Association, and corporate participants, will independently implement their own programs.
・Programs will be held inside and outside the Expo site.
The program will utilize facilities not only inside the Expo site but also outside the Expo site.
・Transmission via the Internet from before the opening until after the closing of the Expo
The program, even before the opening of the Expo, will be transmitted from the virtual site, and videos and other information will be archived after the Expo closes.

■Program organizer (Track) and Location

“Agenda 2025”
To send a message from the Expo to the world, the Association will take the lead in implementing a series of interactive programs and exhibitions as a series of programs with multiple sessions for each theme. This is a cross-sectional project involving various stakeholders, including the Official Participants, the Japanese government and local governments, TEAM EXPO, and exhibiting companies participating in the Expo. Dialogue programs will be held in studios (under consideration) and in trade fair facility on the Expo site, where a small group of speakers, rich in diversity of nationality, gender, and generation, will freely discuss each theme, and participation in online from around the world will be possible.

Call for Sponsorship

From January 18, the Association will be accepting applications from companies and organizations for “General Sponsorship” to support the overall publicity promotion and implementation of Theme Weeks. Sponsors will be selected through discussions and be announced in due course.
Acceptance of sponsorships for each program will start in the spring of 2023 or later.

Wednesday, January 18, 2023: (1) Acceptance of “General Sponsorship” applications starts.
Around spring 2023: Theme determination, (2) Acceptance of “Program Sponsorship” applications starts.
Fiscal year 2024: Program Organization
From April 2025 to October 2025: Theme Weeks Implementation
