On January 18, 2024, a press conference was held on the exhibition plan for the Signature Pavilion “null2” (pronounced “nurunuru”) (theme: Forging Lives) that Thematic Project Producer OCHIAI Yoichi is working on for Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan (hereinafter referred to as “the Expo”).
At the press conference, Producer OCHIAI and architect TOYODA Keisuke, from the NOIZ architect firm, introduced the architecture of “null²”, partially incorporating VR in their presentation. The design goes beyond merely looking good on social media and is worth visiting the site to see in person. In addition, Producer OCHIAI’s Mirrored Body®*—his own ”digital human”—and the “null²” logo design were also unveiled.
Prior to the press conference, a construction safety prayer ceremony was held at Goryo Shrine in Chuo-ward, Osaka City, hosted by Fujita Corporation and Daiwa Lease Co., Ltd. , the companies in charge of the construction.
The pavilion is due to be completed by around January 2025.

*Mirrored Body®:
A digital human ID infrastructure created using cutting-edge blockchain and AI technology that cannot be duplicated or replaced. By attaching identification information and various other information to a 3D digital human alter ego, people can experience expanded time and space without barriers between the digital and physical worlds.

The Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan Signature Pavilion null², is a building that symbolizes digital nature, combining physical and digital boundaries. We are very pleased to present the architecture as a cornerstone of this project and to have received the support of so many people. Through the Expo, we will make every effort to introduce digital nature from here in Osaka, Japan to the world.

Comment from TAKASHINA Jun, Deputy Secretary General, Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition

Thematic Project Producer OCHIAI Yoichi is an associate professor at a university, where he supervises many research students. He is also actively working as a media artist and entrepreneur. He is a producer with deep knowledge, especially in the field of digital technology.
By embodying the theme of “Forging Lives” through the experience of human beings being archived by digital human technology, we hope that each visitor will be inspired to think about what “life” in the future means.
Producer OCHIAI has also been conducting trials of the technology and staging at other exhibitions and events around the country in order to perfect the contents of his exhibition ahead of the Expo. I hope that today’s presentation will be an opportunity to further accelerate his activities, and that they will flourish at the Expo.
