The Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition (hereinafter referred to as “the Association”) and the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry have concluded a cooperation agreement for the purpose of implementing “Theme Weeks” at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan (hereinafter referred to as “the Expo”).
This agreement aims for the collaboration and implementation of initiatives for dialogue and exchange geared towards solving global issues from the viewpoints and ideas of the next generation during Theme Weeks, thus leading to the success of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan and the creation of Future Society for Our Lives together with the rest of the world.
The Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry will become a “Program Supporter” for the Association’s “Agenda 2025” program during Theme Weeks. In addition, the “Shape New World Initiative”, launched by the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers Community Osaka Hub, will be promoted through mutual collaboration and cooperation with the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry to support the next generation in solving global issues.
■ About the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry
It is a regional general economic organization consisting of about 30,000 members, and has established the Headquarters for Cooperation and Promotion of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan. In preparation for the Expo, it is working with the national and local governments to contribute to the growth of member companies and regional development through a wide network of local commerce and industry, chambers of commerce nationwide and overseas, and foreign diplomatic missions and economic organizations in Osaka, as well as through various activities to increase momentum for the Expo.
The Chamber has been working in various fields to revitalize industries in Osaka, and from FY2023, under our mid-term plan “The Yatte Minahare Osaka Plan: A Roadmap for a City of Daring and Ambition”, the Chamber will focus on strengthening cooperation and integration among industries of the same type, different types, and different fields, in addition to encouraging small and medium-sized enterprises, young people, and start-ups to take on new challenges.
■About the Shape New World Initiative
An initiative (consortium) launched from the Global Shapers Community Osaka Hub, one of the initiatives of the World Economic Forum. Various organizations, including the World Economic Forum Global Shapers Community Osaka Hub, Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition, Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Osaka University Social Solutions Initiative, and the Japan Science and Technology Agency, will participate in the survey and research project. In addition to that, in the “Theme Weeks“ program at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, theme sessions are planned to be held as a cross-cutting initiative for Future Generations and Inclusion.

■ About the Cross-Cutting Initiatives
・The cross-cutting initiatives are an approach to interconnecting the eight themes of Theme Weeks. The three initiatives are as follows: “Economy and Innovation,” which sheds light on the power of business; “Population Dynamics and Aging Society,” which is a global challenge that Japan faces ahead of the rest of the world; and “Future Generations and Inclusion,” which highlights the leaders of our future society.
