The Capacity Building Programme (CBP), a training programme for participation in Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan (hereinafter referred to as “the Expo”), was held in Libreville, the capital of the Gabonese Republic in Africa, for three days from February 13 to 15, 2024, organised by the BIE (Bureau International des Expositions) in cooperation with the Government of the Gabonese Republic. The Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition (hereinafter referred to as “the Association”) took part in this programme, giving a presentation and exchanging opinions at the Expo session on February 14.
This project, which aims to encourage BIE member nations to participate in Expos, was started in 2020 by the BIE. This is the first time the CBP meeting was held in person. Approximately 80 people from 12 French-speaking African countries participated. At the session held on February 14, a video message from Mr Oussouby SACKO, Deputy Chairperson of the Association (Kyoto Seika University, former President, Director of Integrated Research Organisation, and Professor of the Human Environment Design Program), was shown. This was followed by various explanations and Q&A sessions from the Association staff on preparations for participation in the Expo. Participants asked questions on a wide range of areas, such as procedures related to exhibition construction, event planning, commercial activities, and life in Japan. Many of the participants expressed their desire to accelerate preparations for April 2025.
The Association will continue to provide a variety of support to further accelerate the preparation of each Official Participant’s pavilion exhibition.
