2024.04.04 Tourism Portal Site “Expo 2025 Official Experiential Travel Guides” Launched To List And Sell Experiential Travel Packages Related To The Expo Theme

The Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition (hereinafter referred to as “the Association”) is pleased to announce that the tourism portal site “Expo 2025 Official Experiential Travel Guides” was launched on 4 April 2024 and started listing and selling experiential travel packages on the sales page.

This portal site will feature high value travel products that have an affinity with the theme of the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan (hereinafter referred to as “the Expo”), provide a high level of satisfaction, and deliver local tourism and product information directly to prospective Expo visitors.

In addition to being able to search and book by date, time and location, users can also search by a number of genres related to the Expo theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives” and experience the Expo theme through the introduction of travel packages related to the Expo theme in each region and information on local events.

Overview of experience travel packages related to the Expo theme.
The portal site lists experiences that can be enjoyed in each region, categorised according to genres that have an affinity with the Expo theme. Customers will be guided to each region of the country by selecting the Expo theme and experience from the search screen and searching for products.

(Example of a package for sale).
・Package name: Mima Japanese umbrella making experience (planned and implemented by Mima Tourism Bureau).
・Price: 2 days, 1 night, from JPY¥ 60,000 per person
・Contents: Visitors can stay in a historical Edo-era town and spend two days at the only remaining wagasa (Japanese umbrella) production workshop in Shikoku to experience the final stages of the production process under the direct guidance of a wagasa craftsperson who has inherited traditional techniques. The visitors can take the finished umbrellas home as a souvenir.
・Impact on the local area: By turning an industry of traditional crafts into a tourism experience that visitors will find fulfilling, it is expected to lead to the understanding and transmission of traditional culture. In addition, the sale of high value products are expected to lead to an increase in the income of craftspeople and the sustainability of the local industry.
