“One-Time Password (email)” Authentication Added to the ExpoID

The Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition (hereinafter referred to as “the Association”), is pleased to announce that one-time password authentication by email has been added to the identity verification methods for the ExpoID on Wednesday 24 July 2024 to allow easier authentication.

At Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan (hereinafter referred to as “the Expo”), you will need to register for an ExpoID in order to purchase tickets and use various other services.
The “One-Time Password (email)” authentication method does not require any prior setting on a smartphone to register an ExpoID, as the one-time password for identity verification will be sent to the registered email address. This makes it easy for those who are not used to using smartphones to authenticate their identity and register an ExpoID.

What is an ExpoID?
An ExpoID is a common login ID used for various Expo services.
By registering for an ExpoID, visitors can purchase tickets and make reservations for visits, as well as experience a range of services and content that will be announced in the future.
In order to increase the security of the ExpoID, when you log in for the first time, you need to select one of three identity verification methods.

■ Types of identification verification methods for the ExpoID
１．Biometric authentication, passcode authentication, etc.
２．One-time password (application) authentication
３．[NEW] One-time password (email) authentication

What is one-time password (email) authentication?
When logging in to various services with your ExpoID and password, this method allows you to verify your identity by simply inputting the password sent to your email address.

[Features]
・A one-time password is sent to the email address registered to your ExpoID, making it easy to set up.
・Security is ensured as a different password that is only valid for 5 minutes is sent each time you log in.

[Recommended for the following people]
・Those who are not good at using smartphones, etc.
・Those who use multiple devices, such as smartphones and computers.
