On Sunday 13 October 2024, the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition (hereinafter referred to as “the Association”) held “Expo 2025 Six months to Go Event in Dotonbori!” at Ebisubashi Bridge on the Tombori River Walk in Chuo-ku, Osaka. The Dotonbori Glico sign, one of Osaka’s landmarks, began to show a promotional video for Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai. Japan (hereinafter referred to as “the Expo”). The event also included a talk show and countdown ceremony featuring Special Supporters ITAGAKI Koyori, TATSUMOTO Yayoi, and MATSUOKA Sakura from NMB48, special guests HIGO Katsuhiro and TERAKADO Jimon from DACHO Club, and guest MC ASAGOE Goe from The PLAN 9.
The promotional video is being shown at 30-minute intervals between 18:00 and 24:00 from Sunday, 13 October to Saturday, 26 October. The 30-second film introduces seven phrases including “Where fun exceeds your imagination!” and “How much like us will they be? Meet the androids of the future.” in Japanese and English along with images of the various attractions of the Expo.
At the event on 13 October, after a light-hearted discussion by the speakers, the audience counted down in unison to 18:00, the time of the first broadcast.
When the promotional video was shown on the Glico sign at exactly 18:00, the audience and passing tourists watched it. The attractions of the Expo will be communicated via the Dotonbori Glico sign, one of Osaka’s landmarks that is visited by many tourists from home and abroad, to build momentum for the Expo during the six months leading up to its opening.
Time and Date: From Sunday, 13 October to Saturday, 26 October 2024, every 30 minutes between 18:00 and 24:00.
