Future Life ExpoFuture City

What kind of tomorrow awaits us?

How are we to overcome the various environmental and social problems we face?
How do we resolve our lifestyle issues?
And what kind of happiness can we create?

What kind of tomorrow would…
This kind of tomorrow might…
Or just maybe…

Let’s consider tomorrow.
Let’s give happiness a look.

Experience this tomorrow, this happiness, in the “Future City.”

Overview

The City of the Future as Envisioned by Society 5.0

What kind of wisdom on our part will be put to use there, and what kind of happiness will come about?
Here, the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition and 12 co-sponsors propose answers to be found
at the Future Life Expo: Future City,
where we can all consider these questions together.

Can we balance economic advancement with the resolution of various social problems?

What would a human-centered city designed for humans look like?
We invite children as well as experienced adults to take a look and give us a range of opinions.

Theme

The Future Life Expo: Future City is one of the Future Society Showcase Projects,
promoted by the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition
and is presented by the Association and 12 co-sponsors.

To the city of happiness.

What and who are cities for?
What kind of “value” will Society 5.0 bring us?
The exhibition will provide an opportunity for visitors to contemplate a variety of questions
and to consider with us the vision of the future city through an exhibition in which the cyber
and physical fields are mutually linked and fused.

Our ideal is happiness for each and every person, leaving no one behind.
To that end, the arena that humanity must work together to find is the Future City.

Project Characteristics

Diverse yet Unified: INNOVATION COMPLEX

Created together by the Association and 12 co-sponsors.
Experience a depth almost unheard of in the history of World Fairs.

The Future City is also notable as a common exhibition project between the Association and 12 co-sponsors.

In order to maximize the strengths of this collective, we have established the concept of the “Innovation Complex.”
The system is designed so that the Organiser, the Association, will present multiple perspectives composing the Future City,
while the 12 co-sponsors are to create “experiential programs” that make the most of their knowledge and ideas.
Don’t miss the experience of the depth and expansion of this theme, as well as its vast scale.

Overview of the Pavilion

Exterior Design Theme

Society 5.0, the theme of the exhibition, refers to a world created through a fusion of the cyber and physical fields.
As an exterior expressing these two worlds, the design uses a double skin.

The outer skin is a mesh screen. Shadows created by the lighting are displayed on it, with mist evoking a fantastical atmosphere.
The gaps should also provide an insulation effect, with attention to the summer heat as well.

A transparent “corridor” also runs through the whole building, creating a view onto the sea.
The exterior design shifts expressions from morning to noon and night. Don’t miss it.

Overview of Exhibitions

The farther in you go, the more real it seems.
A happy future for humanity and the Earth.

From the Theme Exhibition at the pavilion entrance, the exhibition continues
with the Common Exhibitions and Individual Company Exhibitions,
tracing a story in which the new city of Society 5.0 and the new happiness to be created there seem all the more real the farther in you go.
Satisfy your intellectual curiosity to the hilt while enjoying innovative videos and exhibitions the likes of which the world has never seen before.
