2024.05.30 Concept Drawings of the 20 Facilities Designed by Young Architects Released

Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan will be a springboard for the success and advancement of the younger generation

The Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition (hereinafter referred to as “the Association”) is pleased to announce the completion of design work for20 facilities, including Rest Areas, Galleries *1, Exhibition facilities *2, Pop-up Stages *3, Satellite Studios *4, and Toilets, at the venue of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan (hereinafter referred to as “the Expo”). The outlines, design concepts, and concept drawings of each facility are now available to the public.
The call for designs for the 20 facilities was open to young, up-and-coming architects with the hope that the Expo will serve as a springboard for the success and advancement of the next generation, just as the young architects who worked on the 1970 Japan World Exposition have since become prominent architects.
Under the venue design concept of “Unity in Diversity,” we will create unique and attractive facilities at the Expo venue through ambitious and bold proposals that will lead to the achievement of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).

*1 – Facilities designed for events such as art, animation, and fashion shows, as well as various exhibitions and forums.
*2 – Facilities designed projects that are part of the “Future Life Experience” where the future of life (food, culture, healthcare) can be experienced, and for further presentations and exhibitions about the projects held at the “TEAM EXPO Pavilion” where “Action for the Future” can be experienced.
*3-Small-scale stages designed for events such as music, talk events, and festivals.
*4 – Studios for broadcasting and recording programs.
