The Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition (hereinafter referred to as “the Association”) will collaborate with the Japan National Tourism Organisation (hereinafter referred to as “JNTO”) to launch the EXPO2025 Digital Wallet’s first overseas promotion campaign using NFTs* on 25 November, 2024.
Ink brush illustrations of regional attractions related to the Expo’s theme will be distributed as NFT art to travellers from all over the world. They will convey the attraction of Japan’s various regions to travellers from around the world who are interested in Japan as a result of the Expo, thereby promoting visits to the Expo and inviting visitors to regional tourism attractions.
* NFT (Non-Fungible Token): Irreplaceable digital data created based on a blockchain. This rally will use SBT (Soul Bound Token), a type of NFT technology that cannot be tampered with and cannot be transferred to another party. This is expected to be a new technology that can be used for participation certificates, etc.
A total of 20 contemporary ink brush paintings, two from each of the 10 regions of Japan, will feature regional landmarks and tourist attractions related to the theme of the Expo. They are drawn by contemporary Japanese ink brush artists and will be distributed to travellers from around the world.
This NFT art can be acquired for free on the web browser version of the EXPO 2025 Digital Wallet after experiencing a simulated travel experience through a series of ink brush paintings on the JNTO’s special website. This new promotion using Web3 NFTs will further promote the various regions’ attractions to travellers from around the world who are interested in Japan as a result of the Expo.
