2024.12.03 Future Society Showcase Projects, Future Life Expo: “Future City”“Creators’ Meeting” Pavilion Presentation Held

On 3 December 2024, the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition (hereinafter referred to as “the Association”) held the “Creators‘ Meeting” where the third round of announcements were made about  the Future Life Expo “Future City” pavilion (hereinafter referred to as “Future City”) During the presentation, the creative director FURUMI Shuichi spoke with the creators involved in the pavilion’s architecture and common exhibits, and introduced their messages and thoughts for the children who will lead the future. In addition, a drone video of the newly assembled exterior of the pavilion was shown for the first time.

Meeting 01  “The Pavilion is a Message”

Speakers: FURUMI Syuichi and OKAZAKI Kyoko.
The architectural design concept and attraction of the “Future City” Pavilion were introduced from the unique perspective of the architect. The exterior of the newly assembled building and the lighting effects were shown for the first time via drone footage.

Meeting 02   Super Time Lapse ~ 5 billion years: a journey of happiness ~

Speakers: FURUMI Shuichi and SAITO Keiichi.
The theme exhibition depicts the transition from Society 1.0 to Society 5.0 with the theme of “the Journey of Happiness”.
The director introduced the thoughts he wanted to convey, the points he focused on, and the behind-the-scenes production process.
He also announced that the exhibit will be interactive allowing visitors to participate in the images displayed on the curving screen in front of them. He explained that the exhibit is not a one-way presentation of a conclusion, but an opportunity for visitors to think about the future for themselves.

Meeting 03  “Future Life Cube ~dialogue with Future~”

Speakers: FURUMI Shuichi and TAKAHASHI Makoto.
In Common Exhibition 01, visitors can catch a glimpse of life in Society 5.0as if they were actually there through four mysterious cubes. The audience were invited to view a portion of the video and were given an explanation of the pseudo-3D images, the process of creating each story, and the key points of the video production process.

Meeting 04  “CITY WALKER ~ I saw a dream, I saw the present ~”

Speakers: FURUMI Shuichi, UEHARA Kei, INABA Hideki, and SHIMIZU Takaharu.

In Common Exhibition 02, visitors can experience four stories inspired by the key phrase “I saw a dream” virtually on a Robot Head. During this presentation, short versions of each story were shown for the first time, together with a model of the Robot Head. The creators introduced the key points and highlights of the film production.

The Four Exhibition Stories
● Environment and Energy めぐみがめぐるエネルギー MEGUMI GA MEGURU ENERGY (meaning:  Benefit is circulating with
  Energy) (Director: UEHARA Kei)
  You will experience the future of a recycling-oriented energy society, where everything is a resource to be cherished and
  cared for, with the guide of a treasure hunter named Lisa.

● Transportation and Mobility うごく はこぶ かなえる UGOKU HAKOBU KANAERU (meaning: To move, to transport, to
  realise) “to move, to transport, to realise” (Director: YASUNAGA Yuko)
  While touring an fictional Expo featuring fascinating vehicles from the world of the future, visitors will experience the
  future of transportation and mobility, including eco-friendly dream vehicles, vehicles that embody the ultimate in
  safety, and networks to supportsuch vehicles.

● Manufacturing and Urban Development つよくやさしいまちづくり TSUYOKU YASASHII MACHIZUKURI
  (meaning:Powerful and friendly urban development)(Director: INABA Hideki)
  In this animated adventure story, a group of boys are creating a utopia of the future and showing the manufacturing
  and urban development of the future. The boys utilise their special skills to design and build an environmentally friendly
  city.
