Press Release

2025.05.02 [Theme Producer MIYATA Hiroaki] Thematic Project: Signature Pavilion “Better Co-Being”  “The Greatest Wellbeing with Diversity and Inclusion” Art Installation by MIYATA Hiroaki and NINAGAWA Mika Free Night-time Viewing for a Limited Time

The Sequence 3: “The Greatest Wellbeing with Diversity and Inclusion” (MIYATA Hiroaki with EiM) area of Theme Producer MIYATA Hiroaki’s, Signature Pavilion “Better Co-Being,” will be open for free viewing for a limited time only from Friday 2 May to Monday 30 June allowing more people to enjoy the pavilion.
The work on display was created by EiM, a creative team of experts from various fields, led by Better Co-Being Theme Producer MIYATA Hiroaki and photographer and film director NINAGAWA Mika. About 400 slender wires rise up to the 7m-high canopy, each wire fitted with a small suncatcher. None of these suncatchers are arranged identically, symbolizing a “non-uniform collection” that celebrates diversity. On sunny days, these catch and refract natural light into rainbow hues; on cloudy or rainy days, a mist and artificial lighting combine in a dreamlike display.
At night, the space is flooded with a myriad of lights spinning from the approximately 15,000 illuminated crystals, inviting visitors to a immerse themselves in the fantastical experience (luminous version) of becoming one with the colourful and diverse sparkles under the pavilion with no walls or ceilings. Unlike the rainbows and contrasts of daylight, the unique sparkles of the night are open for all visitors to freely enjoy.
In addition, to coincide with the start of the free viewing period, a special version of the mysterious pebbles, called “luminous echorb,” designed by NINAGAWA Mika, will be unveiled for the nighttime production (luminous version). A special design has been created that highlights the vivid colours unique to NINAGAWA Mika’s work by carefully selecting a variety of glitters and delicately layering them to express a deep sparkle.
The echorbs are a key feature of the pavilion. They read the location information of visitors and provides an interactive experience by linking with the Better Co-Being app (web app). A heartbeat sensor installed at the entrance reads each visitor’s heart rate and embeds it in their echorb, allowing visitors to feel their own life in the palm of their hand as they explore the pavilion.

“Luminous Echorb” is a mysterious pebble designed by NINAGAWA Mika

The signature pavilion “Better Co-Being” is composed of three art experiences and an epilogue with the theme of “resonance.” Visitors can experience the art using two key features that utilise digital technology: the Better Co-Being app and the mysterious pebbles “echorb.” Visitors can book in advance to experience the pavilion in a tour format in groups of about 15 people.

The newly unveiled “luminous echorb” was designed by NINAGAWA Mika to respond to the nighttime production (luminous version) of the installation “The Greatest Wellbeing with Diversity and Inclusion”. Like the regular echorb, it is equipped with 3D haptics technology, leading visitors to a resonant experience with a mysterious sense of touch and response.
