Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition
Today, Wednesday, 4 June 2025, at around 18:00, concentrations of Legionella bacteria exceeding the standard values set by the “*Guidelines for the Prevention of Legionnaires Disease” were detected in the seawater at the Water Plaza.
The matter was immediately reported to the Osaka City Public Health Centre (Venue Hygiene Monitoring Centre), which advised us to stop the fountain. Based on this advice, the decision was made to cancel today’s performance of “Under the Midnight Rainbow”.
We deeply apologise to all the visitors who were looking forward to the performance.
The Association has already begun work to improve water quality and will continue to monitor the water quality at the Water Plaza in cooperation with the Osaka City Public Health Centre.
In addition, all daytime Water Plaza performances “A Symphony of Air and Water,” and the evening performances of “Under the Midnight Rainbow” on Thursday 5 and Friday 6 June have been cancelled.
We will announce the resumption of these performances at a later date.
