2025.07.11 Salt Tablets and Candy To Be Distributed and MYAKU-MYAKU To Appear at Heatstroke Prevention Awareness Event on 14 July!

The Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition (hereinafter referred to as “the Association”) is promoting awareness of heatstroke prevention measures by encouraging visitors to bring heat protection items and informing them of drinking water spots. With the arrival of July, the number of “mid-summer days”* is increasing. The Association will hold an event on Monday, 14 July 2025 under the Grand Ring near MYAKU-MYAKU House at the Expo site to raise awareness among visitors about the need to replenish not only water but also salt. During the event, we will distribute salt tablets and summer candies. The salt tablets and candy to be distributed have been donated by two companies from Osaka Prefecture; Saraya Co., Ltd. and UHA Mikakuto Co., Ltd. MYAKU-MYAKU, the official character of the Expo, will also appear at the event to support the distribution of the salt tablets and candies.

(For Reference)
The Association is implementing a three-pronged “heatstroke prevention strategy.”
We aim to reduce the risk of heatstroke caused by rising temperatures at the Expo site and will prioritise the health and safety of visitors.

1. Creation of Shade, Installation of Fans, and Drinking Water Spots
①Utilisation of the Space under the Grand Ring ⇒ Benches will be installed under the Grand Ring to serve as rest areas. In addition, items for use in hot weather, beverages, etc. will be sold under the Grand Ring.
②Addition of Parasols ⇒ More than 300 parasols will be set up throughout the Expo site.
③Installation of Misters ⇒ Approximately 30 mist fans will be set up along the paths around the Expo site.
④Installation of Spot Air Conditioners ⇒ 40 sport air conditioning units have been installed at the East Entrance Plaza and 20 units at the West Entrance Plaza.
⑤Measures at Transportation Terminals ⇒ 18 mist fans will be installed between Transportation Terminal 2 and Transportation Terminal 1
⑥Use of Electric Buses as Rest Areas ⇒ Two electric buses will be parked and used as cool rest areas.
⑦Increased Availability of Drinking Water ⇒ As of 15 June 2025, there are a total of 248 vending machines installed within the Expo site. In addition, a total of 79 drinking water spots have been installed. *This number may be subject to change.

2. Enhancement of Visitor Services
①Enhancement of Heatstroke Prevention Awareness Activities ⇒ Heatstroke prevention information will be provided on the official website and announcements made at the Expo site.
②Improvement of Staff Response ⇒ Training and education will be provided to Association officials and staff. Pavilions and events will be requested to implement heatstroke prevention measures.
③Heatstroke Prevention Measures at the East Entrance Plaza ⇒ 300 parasols will be lent to visitors and rest areas provided.

3. Establishment of Medical Systems
①Medical and Emergency Care at the Expo site ⇒ We have established a system to prevent the worsening of heatstroke by taking appropriate measures at the early stages. We have also coordinated with the Osaka City Fire Department and other emergency services in order to provide an appropriate emergency transport system when necessary. A heatstroke response system has also been established at the eight medical facilities (clinics and first aid stations) within the Expo site, with doctors stationed at three of them.
 ② Heatstroke Response Flow:
⇒ Phase 1: Prevention and initial response – People who are feeling unwell will be guided to a rest area, and if cooling measures are required, they will be directed to a medical facility.
Phase 2: Response at medical facilities – Appropriate treatment according to the patient’s physical condition (cooling the patient’s body, administering intravenous fluids, etc.)
Phase 3: Coordination with emergency services and transport – Depending on symptoms, the patient will be transported to a hospital outside the Expo site (Osaka City Fire Department Ambulance Team)
