The Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition (hereinafter referred to as “the Association”) is pleased to announce that “Sumo to bring the World together! Sumo Expo 2025” will be held on 4 August.

Time and Date: 9:30 to 19:30, Monday, 4 August, 2025 (Doors open at 9:00)
Venue: EXPO Exhibition Centre “WASSE”
Description: Sumo Expo 2025 is a festival of sumo that combines tradition and diversity with the theme “Sumo to bring the World together!”. This event will bring together sumo athletes and organisations from Japan and around the world for a diverse programme of events.
Main Programme:
• International Sumo Match: Heated matches between international sumo wrestlers
• Women’s Sumo: Heated matches between strong female sumo wrestlers
• Tournament of Future Sumo Wrestlers: Serious matches between junior wrestlers from primary schools to university students
• Sumo Related Municipalities Area: Exhibition and experience booths introducing sumo culture and attractions around Japan.
• Sumo Food Area: Gourmet food related to sumo will be on offer.
• Sumo Experience Area: Activities through which you can experience the feeling of being a sumo wrestler.
About the Sumo Experience (Dohyo Mat)
• Opening hours: 9:50-18:50
• Eligibility: Open to all (minors must have parental consent)
• Clothing: Comfortable clothing that is easy to move in.

*Entry may be restricted due to space constraints. Numbered tickets will not be distributed.
Viewing Rules
Matches in the dohyo ring in the centre of the venue are free to watch. If there are not free seats available, you can also stand and watch. The experience corner, food area, and booth area are also open to all.
