Redback spiders have been discovered within the Expo site. These spiders have been found inhabiting areas throughout Osaka Prefecture, including the Osaka City area. They are docile, non-aggressive spiders, and although venomous, their fangs are short, so it is unlikely that you will be bitten unless you catch one with your bare hands or accidentally touch it without noticing it.

Exterminators have been hired and are already working to address the issue, but if you do come across a redback spider, please do not try to catch it with your bare hands or touch it.
