The Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition has collaborated with the Japan Association for the International Horticultural Expo 2027, Yokohama to transplant six trees from the site of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan (hereinafter referred to as “Expo 2025”) to the site of Expo 2027 Yokohama, Japan (hereinafter referred to as “GREEN x EXPO 2027”) as part of its legacy.

The trees were loaded into transport at the Expo 2025 site on Wednesday, 4 March 2026, and were unloaded at the GREEN x EXPO 2027 site on Friday, 6 March 2026. In line with GREEN x EXPO 2027’s principle of promoting a sustainable society that coexists with the environment, modal shift was implemented from trucks to rail to reduce the carbon emissions of the transport.

This initiative symbolically connects the philosophies of both Expos, and the transported trees were planted at the GREEN x EXPO 2027 venue. The loading and unloading of the trees, as well as planting at the GREEN×EXPO 2027 venue, is being carried out with the support of DAIRINKAI, established for the International Garden and Greenery Exposition (held in 1990).
