An Island Nation of Clear Blue Seas and Shared Memories with Japan
The Republic of Palau is located east of the Philippines, at the western edge of Micronesia.
It consists of around 200 islands of varying sizes, but its land area is almost the same as Yakushima Island in Japan.
Due to the presence of tens of thousands of Japanese residents throughout history, Japanese words such as shashin (photograph) and denki (electricity) have even been adopted into the Palauan language.
Palau’s tourism resources include its beautiful ocean and island landscapes.
The pavilion introduces those landscapes as well as basic sightseeing information, and a history of the friendship between Palau and Japan.
Other must-see items are the model of a traditional Palau structure called a bai, and a postcard exhibit.
