Australia is famous for its unique wildlife, and the Australia Pavilion does a fantastic job of introducing visitors to the country’s natural beauty. The experience is divided into three sections: Land Country, Sky Country, and Sea Country.
The first section, “Land Country” recreates a eucalyptus forest. Clever use of mirrors creates the illusion of a vast forest and the scent of eucalyptus pumped into the room adds to the realness. Children and adults alike can delight in keeping an eye out for animated forest-dwelling critters that appear among the trees.
Moving to the second section, “Sky Country”, you are invited to gaze at the night sky that stretches above your head on the ceiling while pavilion staff share interesting facts about constellations connecting them to Australia’s environment and culture. The emu, Australia’s symbolic bird, is featured prominently as a beautiful animated constellation that draws inspiration from indigenous art styles.
In the final section, “Sea Country” visitors soar through space, glide above beautiful coastal landscapes, and plunge beneath the waves to explore Australia’s famed coral reefs through a mosaic of screens that encompasses the entire room. Once again, indigenous art adds to the magic as marine life is joined by animations of shimmering sea creatures. Dotted throughout the main image, smaller screens share a glimpse into humanity’s connection to the natural world.
The excitement isn’t over yet after you exit the pavilion. You can enjoy a variety of events held on the pavilion’s stage such as live music, cooking demos, dance performances and more while dining on unique Australian cuisine. Looking for something exotic?
