2025.03.11 Interior of Future City Pavilion and Virtual Mirai City Unveiled on 10 March

The Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition (hereinafter referred to as “the Association”) unveiled the interior of the “Future City” pavilion, part of the “Future Society Showcase Project” on 10 March 2025. The “Virtual Mirai City” (Virtual Future City) was also announced. The “Future City” pavilion is based on the theme “To the City of Happiness” and will consist of a “Common Exhibition” led by the Association and “Individual Exhibitions” by 12 sponsors, offering a total of 15 attractions.

The unveiled 15 attractions

1) 4 billion years, a journey of happiness (Theme Exhibition)
A spectacular 92m long screen that traces the transition from the birth of the Earth to the happy future Society 5.0.

◇ Discover life in Society 5.0
2) Dialogue with the Future (Common Exhibition 01)

Four mysterious cubes will give visitors a glimpse into life in Society 5.0.

3) & 4) Society 5.0 and the Future City Hitachi, Ltd./KDDI Corportation
Based on the concept of “we can change the future ourselves,” visitors can experience through simulations how cities will change in the future.
Mirai Theater (Left): Visitors can choose their own solutions to future challenges and see how cities of the future will change.
Mirai Arcade (Right): Visitors will work together to solve social issues in a game-like format.

◇ to “Explore Society 5.0”
5) to “Explore the Future City”  (Common Exhibition 02)

With the key phrase “I saw a dream,” participants boarded the robot head and experienced four stories of virtual problems and their solutions in different fields. The 5.5m high robot head is made of cardboard as a new attempt to reduce environmental impact.

“Transportation and Mobility”
Introducing how transportation not only moves people and things, but also creates and overlaps new value, such as contributing to the environment, in the transportation scene.

6) Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. (Left) Experience a life-size version of the mobility of the future that satisfies your instinct to move.
7) Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (Right) The “WIND HUNTER” a hybrid plant ship that produces hydrogen, will be on display.

8) Kansai Transmission and Distribution, Inc. We will exhibit SMART POLE (electric poles of the future) that solve problems in local communities.

“Environment and Energy”
By creating various “circulations,” we create new energy blessings. Introducing advanced efforts toward a sustainable earth.

9) Niterra Co., Ltd (Left) An experimental site for a circular society using the character “Niteon” and tactile 3D using ultrasound.
10) Kanadevia Corporation (Right)Experience resource recycling technology using the world tree made mirrors.

11)IHI Corporation Climb aboard a Wonder Cube and experience a carbon-neutral, safe and secure future.

“Manufacturing and Urban Development”
Introducing efforts to tackle social issues with wisdom, such as reducing CO2 emissions, recycling resources and disaster prevention, and achieving coexistence with nature.

12) Kobe Steel, Ltd. (Left) Experience the future of manufacturing with a full-LED spherical monitor and a “ball coaster.”
13) Asunaro Aoki Construction Co., Ltd. + Komatsu Ltd. (right) “Underwater Construction of the Future” will be introduced through a large model of an underwater construction robot, short movies, underwater experiences, etc

14) CP Concrete Consortium Experience the technology of next-generation CP concrete, which continues to absorb CO2 even after the building is constructed.

“Food and Agriculture”
Introducing how the source of life is protected and spread through a food system that connects producers, sellers, and eaters.

15) KUBOTA Corporation The over 20m long canopy and LED screen in front of it combine to create a visual space, offering videos on the theme of “Future Food and Agriculture” and a simulation game that allows visitors to experience the future of agriculture. A “concept model of the future” was also unveiled for the first time.

Virtual Future City

“Virtual Mirai City” Announced: Visitors can experience various future possibilities in a game-like format
The Future City will be brought to life on KDDI’s metaverse Web3 service platform “αU”. You can enjoy the “Virtual Mirai City” by downloading the “αU” app.
The Virtual Mirai City is a virtual space based on the concept of “thinking about the future you want to live in”. Based on the theme of the Future City, “To the city of happiness”, KDDI and nine sponsors of the Future City co-created a human-centered urban space that Society 5.0 aims for. You can experience a unique virtual experience, such as touching the future where social issues have been solved and the technologies that support the future through avatars.
You can also enjoy the “Virtual Mirai Theater”, where you can experience Hitachi and KDDI’s joint exhibition Mirai Theater from outside the venue.
