
The Signature Pavilion “EARTH MART” (Thematic Project Producer: KOYAMA Kundo) at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan (hereinafter referred to as “the Expo”) will host its signature event, “EARTH MART DAY supported by GURUNAVI RED U-35 2025 CONSORTIUM / KUBOTA” (hereinafter referred to as “EARTH MART DAY”), on Sunday, 5 October 2025, under the theme “A Day to Brighten the Future of Food.”
The event to be held at EXPO Hall “Shining Hat” at the Expo site will feature stage programmes examining the evolution of food and the food culture we have cultivated and will explore “new ways of eating” that can lead us to a better future. In addition, a food park called “GOOD FOOD PARK” that will bring together a wide range of food-related experiences will be held in the plaza in front of EXPO Hall.

In collaboration with “RED U-35 2025”, one of Japan’s largest competitions aimed at discovering and supporting chefs aged 35 and under, we will hold an awards ceremony to select this year’s most promising young chefs.

“The Seeds of the Future Are in the Present.” ONE DISH, ONE WORLD Supported by KUBOTA
In collaboration with KUBOTA Corporation, which presents an exhibition on the future of food and agriculture at the Future City pavilion at the Expo, we will offer a programme themed on “Food and Agriculture.”
In the plaza in front of EXPO Hall: “GOOD FOOD PARK”, a food education food park to taste, feel, and enjoy the future of food
1) Local Potential × Young Chefs Collaboration
[Exhibitor: GURUNAVI RED U-35 2025 CONSORTIUM]
Chefs from CLUB RED (a group of award-winning chefs from “RED U-35”) will collaborate with Tokunoshima Town in Kagoshima Prefecture and Nishinoshima Town in Shimane Prefecture to serve dishes that feature local specialties.
2) EARTH TERRACE [Exhibitor: KUBOTA]
KUBOTA Corporation will set up a photo spot with essential agricultural machinery and a booth offering a chance to win EARTH MART original rice and stickers branded with “The Seeds of the Future Are in the Present.”
3) Delicious Art Expo (Exhibition & Workshop)
[Exhibitor: IWASAKI-BeI]
An exhibition of “delicious art”, which are mouth-watering food replicas that excite the eyes and stir the appetite. At EARTH MART, many pieces, including “EARTH FOODS25”, will be on display. A free, limited-capacity workshop will also be held where participants can make a spaghetti food replica (approx. 45 minutes; for primary school students and older).
4) Future Fish Market – Fried Pufferfish Tasting
[Exhibitor: Regional Fish Institute, Ltd.]
EARTH MART exhibits fish selectively bred to help address issues facing our oceans and the fishing industry. At this tasting, you can try “22nd-Century Fugu,” pufferfish that grow more quickly on less feed, developed using genome-editing technology originating at Kyoto University. Enjoy crispy, juicy fried tiger puffer and savour these “future fish”.
5) Umeboshi for the Future Expo
[Exhibitor: The Kishu Tanabe Ume Promotion Committee]
An area where you can learn about the culture of umeboshi (pickled dried plum), a traditional Japanese food, and its possibilities for the future. Umeboshi grown in Wakayama Prefecture will also be distributed as a measure to help prevent heat stroke.
“GOOD FOOD PARK” may be cancelled in the case of poor weather.

Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, which opened on 13 April, is approaching its finale next month. The Signature Pavilion “EARTH MART” has welcomed many visitors from around the world, allowing them to experience its concept of “thinking about life through food.”
Now we hold our signature event “EARTH MART DAY” with the aim of brightening the future of food. Together with those we have met through EARTH MART, we hope to gather ideas for joyfully exploring new ways of eating, and make this a festive day where visitors can actually taste and touch them. I would be very delighted if the new ways of eating you encounter here become a spark that brightens your dining tables and your everyday lives from now on.
