The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (hereinafter referred to as “MLIT”) is working on “Project PLATEAU”, an initiative to develop, utilise, and open up access to 3D city models, which digitally recreate urban spaces.
As part of this initiative, 3D city models of the architecture from the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan site (including the Grand Ring, and official participant pavilions) will be released as a digital archive on Friday, 6 March 2026.
In addition, the point cloud data obtained in the development of the 3D city model will also be made available to the public.
Anyone can view and use this data free of charge, but please note that commercial use, sales promotion, advertising, merchandising, or other for-profit purposes is not permitted.
