The Hungary Pavilion’s exhibition space at Expo 2025 begins with quiet elegance, featuring a layered glass art installation illuminated by lighting reminiscent of crystal goblets. At first glance, the Hungary Pavilion seems to follow the familiar structure of many national pavilions—artful displays, cultural motifs, and a specific interpretation of sustainability. But what awaits beyond the entrance defies expectations and delivers something far more profound.
Inside a dimly lit exhibition space visitors are immersed in darkness, providing a sharp contrast to the light-filled entrance. In the Dome theater a woman dressed in traditional Hungarian attire begins to sing an evocative folk song, her voice resonating through the darkness. As she sings, a stunning display of lights and mystical haze fills the room, dancing in perfect synchrony with the melody. The performance is not only technically flawless but emotionally stirring, inviting the audience to hum along creating a shared moment of cultural connection. In Hungary, there is a saying: “Singing is the gateway to heaven,” – a sentiment that this pavilion conveys beautifully.
The Hungary Pavilion offers a heartfelt exchange that will stay with you long after your visit ends. What else your experience makes more memorable is cuisine. There is a bistro-styled restaurant where you can eat the traditional Hungarian food. The combination of Goulash, one of most popular Hungarian dishes and the wine is splendid just like many of the other rich and flavorful specialties. Check the menu below out!
