Official Participants’ Pavillion Tour|Indonesia Pavilion: Thriving in Harmony: Nature, Culture, Future

The unique ship-shaped exterior of the Indonesia Pavilion makes a striking first impression. But what stands out even more is the hospitality of the energetic staff inviting visitors to drop by with warm smiles. Performances of traditional music and dance on the outdoor stage provide visitors in line with entertainment and set the mood for the journey awaiting them.

Stepping through the door you’re instantly transported to the depths of the Indonesian rainforest. The temperature and humidity inside the exhibit reflects the actual climate in Borneo in real-time making you feel as if you’re really there. Peeking through the undergrowth are sculptures representing the country’s remarkable biodiversity – a Komodo dragon, a Bornean orangutan, a Sumatran tiger and more!

Moving to the upper levels, the walls are lined with traditional weapons, batik textiles, and smiling portraits of the locals. It weaves a vibrant tapestry of the warmth and diversity of this vast country.

Beyond this corridor is a dim room. The walls are lined with a multitude of languages, and a diorama of Indonesia’s new capital city Nusantara sits in the centre. This future smart city offers a glimpse into Indonesia’s future as a model for sustainable, resilient, culturally rich urban development.

The journey concludes in the dining room where you can taste a highly curated selection of  Indonesian cuisine in an atmosphere reminiscent of local street food stalls.

The Indonesia pavilion offers an experience of human connection with a message of the importance of harmony between cultures and nature for a sustainable future.
