Hello, this isVirtual Expo Promotion Team.
The Virtual Expo App is being distributed not only across Japan but also around the world, with the goal of creating a truly “inclusive” Expo.
This time, we would like to share a wonderful initiative, delivered all the way from the Republic of Uganda in Africa, where the Virtual Expo App is being used in a meaningful and inspiring way.
On 12th July 2025, an event titled “Exploring the World Outside Our Window – A Virtual Journey to Expo 2025 Osaka” was held at Uganda Institute of Information and Communication Technology (UICT) in Nakawa, Uganda. The event was organised by VoyEdgers*.
This event was designed to allow people in Uganda to experience the theme of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan— “Designing Future Society for Our Lives” — without leaving their local communities. A wide variety of participants took part, including university students, tech enthusiasts, educators, and community members of all ages. They explored the cutting-edge technologies and cultures from around the world.
Participants wore VR glasses to experience the Virtual Expo App, and for many, it was their first time using such technology. Thanks to the help of student volunteers, they enjoyed the experience with ease and excitement.
About 20 people participated in this event. Many of them said they felt just like being at the actual Expo site in Osaka, and the experience received positive feedback. As a result, more participants are expected in the future.
This event on 12th July was the first event of the series, and it will continue to be held once a month until the Expo ends in October. We hope even more people will join and enjoy the experience.
One of the main purposes of Virtual Expo App is to eliminate the constraints of time and distance so that people from around the world who are far away to visit the Yumeshima site in Osaka in person can access the Expo virtually and experience the charms of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai.
This initiative in Uganda is exactly what the Virtual Expo was aiming to achieve. It was a real pleasure to receive a message from the VoyEdgers.
We believe that many others around the world are engaged in similar initiatives, in addition to the example from Uganda introduced here. It would be a great pleasure if the charms of Expo 2025, Osaka, Kansai could be shared with people in various countries and regions through the Virtual Expo App.
