With the theme “A crossroads of interconnection of peoples for sustainable and equitable development,” the Senegal Pavilion showcases the country’s achievements and aspirations for the future. Stepping into the pavilion, the colourful, gently undulating wall panels convey the vibrant energy with which the nation is pursuing its “Senegal 2050” vision.
One display covers innovation and economic progress such as the smart city in Diamniadio. Another panel shows Senegal’s commitment to the health through a wide variety of avenues including medical research, sustainable agriculture, and psychological support via mobile applications.
In 2026, Senegal will host the 4th Summer Youth Olympic Games, becoming the first country in Africa to host an Olympic sports event. The dedication of the athletes featured in the promotional video is inspiring! On another screen, you may be shocked to see tourists going for a walk and posing for photos with trained lions!
While Senegal looks to the future, it does not forget its past either. A moving video presentation tells the story of Goree Island and its history in the slave trade. Another panel states the importance of Senegal’s traditional cultural values of hospitality and sharing called “Teranga”, as well as the role of elders in preserving culture.
Senegal’s cultural traditions are also proudly on display at the pavilion’s gift shop! A selection of colourful items including textiles, bracelets and large carvings almost make you feel like you are in an art museum. So whether you are interested in traditional culture or technological progress, the Senegal Pavilion has something for you!
