The exterior of the Uzbekistan Pavilion makes an interesting impression next to the Grand Ring, each with wooden columns but cut into different shapes, the spaces between them forming their own unique geometric patterns. Just as the Grand Ring relates to the theme of the Expo, the Uzbekistan Pavilion’s architecture represents its theme “Garden of Knowledge: A Laboratory for a Future Society”.
Entering a cool, earthen tunnel with sound and rippling light effects of flowing water, visitors may feel like they are seeds deep underground just waiting to sprout. In the exhibit space beyond, visitors can see various ideas and projects that are already growing and blooming in Uzbekistan with glowing pedestals detailing present achievements and future goals in areas such as sustainability, innovation and education.
Next, visitors are treated to a beautiful 360 degree video that takes them on a journey from Uzbekistan’s roots in its cultural traditions to its future of innovation and sustainability.
Finally, visitors emerge in the rooftop “garden” of wooden columns. Made of Japanese cedar trees, scanning codes on individual columns lets visitors learn more about the region each tree came from.
Voices echo from the walls as you leave the pavilion, with messages such as “The future of our homeland will be as great as our history and as rich as our culture!” a testament to the energy with which the nation pursues its aspirations.
“Every seed brings prosperity and fertility in the garden of knowledge” with each person’s ideas contributing to the whole. So why not visit the Uzbekistan Pavilion and enrich your own personal garden of knowledge?
