The super-aging and declining population that Japan faces are
particularly serious in rural areas. To overcome these
challenges that lead to the decline of regions, local
governments have begun to work with companies, universities,
and local organizations to implement ideas and initiatives to
revitalize the local economy and strengthen competitiveness.
As "Regional Revitalization 2.0" begins to take
shape, local government and government officials, as well as
experts, will discuss and disseminate innovative examples of
initiatives taking place in the field.

【Reflection】
Japan is facing the challenges of a super-aging society and a
declining population. These impacts are particularly severe
for rural areas. In light of this situation, Nikkei Inc. held
the "Nikkei Regional Revitalization Forum" on May 2,
2025, during the theme week of the Osaka-Kansai Expo, which
had just opened. Amid the launch of "Regional
Revitalization 2.0," the forum showcased advanced
examples of collaboration between municipalities, companies,
and private organizations aimed at overcoming challenges and
revitalizing local economies. Leaders spearheading these
efforts discussed the future of community building and shared
their initiatives with the world.
