The Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition (hereinafter referred to as “the Association”) has developed a Code of Sustainable Procurement, which sets out standards and operational methods that consider sustainability in the procurement process of goods and services, to ensure the sustainable operation of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan (hereinafter referred to as “the Expo”).
The Code of Sustainable Procurement was developed based on discussions held by the Expert Committee for the Sustainable Expo and the Sustainable Procurement Working Group, and opinions solicited on the Association’s website with the aim of reducing the risks of the environmental, social, and economic impacts of the Expo, as well as ensuring that similar initiatives spread and leave a legacy in the environmental, social, and economic fields.
Going forward, in order to ensure that goods and services are procured based on the Code of Sustainable Procurement, we will continue to work with various stakeholders, including businesses involved in the provision, sale and manufacture of goods and services and all organisations involved in the operation of pavilions. We will also continue to consider adding individual standards for each item.
