Trash bins revitalizing forests and communities by utilizing wood and bamboo

■ Challenge Content (Product)
ORIKANE Co.,Ltd. will provide trash cans that use unused wood and bamboo to revitalize forests and communities.
Japan is one of the world’s most forested countries, with forests covering about two-thirds of the country’s land area. However, in recent years, depopulation and aging in mountainous areas have led to a lack of maintenance, leading to the deterioration of forests.
There is also a need to replace fossil fuel-derived materials with recyclable natural materials to address the issue of plastic waste and climate change.
By cooperating with a variety of businesses and local industries, we will promote the use of trees and bamboo to rehabilitate forests, revitalize local communities, and create a recycling-oriented society.

■ Challenge Content (Experience Planning)
Naka Town in Tokushima Prefecture, with a forest cover of 95%, has long had an active forestry industry. Anan City in Tokushima Prefecture was once the largest producer of bamboo shoots in Japan.
At the production site of the raw materials for the waste bins provided to Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, we plan to conduct a “Forest-Wide Experience Tour” in which you can enjoy learning about forests and nature, including activities in a mountain forest that has been selected as a Ministry of the Environment site for symbiosis with nature, factory tours, and a cedar stand-up paddleboard experience. (Collaboration with Hashimoto Forestry, Awa Bamboo Shoot Farm, and Momijigawa Hot Spring)
We aim to convey the natural environment of Tokushima’s mountains, rivers, and seas, as well as the attractiveness of industry, tradition, and culture through manufacturing and experiences that utilize forest resources in Tokushima Prefecture, which is rich in nature.
