Programme details
This symposium, bringing together approximately 50 experts and innovators from Dutch companies and research institutions in the alternative protein and healthy food sectors, will explore the cutting edge of food innovation through two main themes: Protein Innovation: Opportunities & Challenges (such as cellular agriculture and plant-based options) and Health & Nutrition Aspects of Future Food (including the microbiome and personalized nutrition).

【Reflection】
The symposium ‘Future Food & Health’ brought together over
100 experts and innovators from Dutch and Japanese companies
and research institutions in the alternative protein and
healthy food sectors to discuss the latest developments on
protein innovation and innovations boosting health and
nutrition. In the session on alternative proteins,
participants discussed the opportunities that new protein
sources bring to the food industry and global food security.
In the session on healthy foods, they explored the impact of
future foods on the microbiome and overall health. The
exchange of information was very valuable on both sides and
contributed to inspire cross-border collaboration on the
development of future food, food that is both nutritious and
healthy for the environment.
【Post EXPO Initiatives】
The symposium was part of a larger NL program focused on
alternative proteins and healthy food which is currently
subject to evaluation. Post-event initiatives will depend on
the outcome of the evaluation. No initiatives have been
decided on yet.
