Programme details
Together, the three United Nations Rome-based Agencies
(RBAs)—the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the
International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and
the World Food Programme (WFP)—have joined forces to present a
dynamic exhibition focused on inclusive agrifood systems.
This joint initiative highlights the agencies’ shared
commitment to promoting food security, sustainable
agriculture, and improved nutrition worldwide. The exhibition
illustrates how inclusive agrifood systems are essential to
addressing global hunger and malnutrition, while also
empowering smallholder farmers, Indigenous Peoples, women, and
youth.
A key feature is the role of the three agencies'
integrated approaches, such as school meal programmes, which
connect local agriculture to nutrition outcomes, providing
children with access to healthy meals while supporting local
economies and farming communities. Visitors are invited to
explore how innovation, investment, and cooperation can drive
transformation in food systems from farm to fork.
The exhibition also reflects the power of multilateralism and
coordinated action, as the RBAs work hand in hand with
countries, communities, and partners to ensure that no one is
left behind. Through engaging visuals and examples from the
field, this collaborative display invites reflection and
action, showing that building resilient, inclusive food
systems is not only possible it is essential for a better
future for people and the planet.
Reports
【Reflection】
For this exhibition, three Rome Based Agencies (RBAs) —the
Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the International
Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and the World Food
Programme (WFP)— joined forces to present a dynamic exhibition
focused on inclusive agrifood systems, particularly through
examples such as school meal programmes.
It highlighted the agencies’ shared commitment to promoting
food security, sustainable agriculture, and improved nutrition
worldwide, and achieving SDG Goal2 “Zero Hunger”.
The exhibition effectively used visuals and concrete field
examples and attracted interest from the visitors of the
Pavilion and provided a great opportunity to showcase the work
of the three agencies to a wide range of audiences.
We also learned that there is a strong interest among the
Japanese public in working in the UN system.
【Post EXPO Initiatives】
The exhibition highlighted how innovation, investment, and
cooperation can drive transformation in agrifood systems from
farm to fork.
Through the power of multilateralism and coordinated action,
the three agencies will strive to continue working hand in
hand with countries, communities, and partners to ensure that
no one is left behind, to aim for a better future for the
people and the planet. We will leverage this momentum to
continue promoting UN’s work for Zero Hunger, in Japan and the
world.
