【Reflection】
Co-hosted by the five Nordic countries and Japan, this two-day
event served as a platform for public, private, and academic
sectors to exchange concrete case studies and policy visions
around key themes: “Medical Data × AI,” “Chronic Disease
Management,” “AMR (Antimicrobial Resistance),” “Precision
Medicine,” and “Sustainable Healthcare Production.
The opening day featured keynote speeches by Finland’s
Minister of Social Affairs and Health, Kaisa Juuso, who
introduced the Nordic Vision 2030—aiming to become the most
sustainable and integrated region in the world—and Denmark’s
Minister for the Interior and Health, Sophie Løhde, who
presented a model for locally anchored healthcare reform
supported by digital infrastructure.
Panel discussions highlighted Nordic public-private
partnership models and Japan’s AI-based medical data analysis,
showcasing how the two regions bring complementary strengths
to the table.
The second day focused on antimicrobial resistance (AMR),
sustainable healthcare manufacturing, and advances in cancer
diagnosis and treatment. Specialized sessions explored topics
such as radiological medicine, ethical frameworks for medical
data usage, and green investment strategies in healthcare.
These discussions emphasized the shared challenges and
priorities between Japan and the Nordic region.
Across both days, a common vision emerged: to transform
technological innovation into patient-centered value. The
event reinforced a collective commitment among governments,
industry leaders, academia, and local municipalities to pursue
collaborative efforts. It laid a solid foundation for future
joint initiatives aimed at sustainable, ethical, and
innovative healthcare systems.
【Post EXPO Initiatives】
Japan and the Nordic countries have confirmed their intention
to advance joint projects across four key areas: health data
utilization, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), precision
medicine, and sustainable healthcare production.
To accelerate collaboration, the two sides plan to establish
frameworks for information sharing among researchers and
companies, with a focus on AI-driven analysis and large-scale
medical data validation.
In the field of AMR, discussions are underway to connect the
Nordic “One Health” model with Japan’s clinical research
capabilities, aiming to develop joint research initiatives.
In oncology, the two regions are exploring clinical trials
that combine the Nordic precision medicine platforms with
Japan’s strengths in advanced imaging diagnostics. Meanwhile,
in the area of green pharmaceutical and medical device
production, sustainability investment models presented by
Norway and Denmark are being shared with Japanese companies.
The goal is to co-develop indicators and guidelines to promote
environmentally responsible healthcare manufacturing.
These proposed collaborations are grounded in the national
policies and best practices introduced during the event, and
are expected to be further developed through future Joint
Nordic events and upcoming bilateral working groups.
