This exhibition will use the latest technology to allow
visitors to experience a future city and life made possible by
Beyond 5G (6G), the next generation of wireless communication
technology after 5G. There are five experiences in total.
<Future Body> Experience playing catch with a remote
person or AI in real time.
<Future Work> Experience a future where communication
networks to the moon are open to the general public and
time-space synchronization between the moon and the earth is
realized.
<Future Nature> Observe how communication systems and
digital twins are in operation and remotely controlled robots
clean the ocean.
<Future Life> In the future, a system called an
orchestrator will play an active role in coordinating various
systems in cyberspace. Experience an intuitive industrial
simulation in which such an orchestrator is responsible.
<Future Security> A disaster occurs and communication
infrastructure is disrupted. Let's help provide stable
communication by flying an unmanned aerial vehicle (HAPS) that
continues to fly at high altitudes to the disaster area.
In addition, through the research and development exhibition
booths, you will be able to learn directly from researchers
about the cutting-edge technologies currently being
researched.
Reports
【Reflection】
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) held
the "Beyond 5G ready showcase" at the EXPO
Exhibition Center "WASSE (North)" from May 26 to
June 3.
A total of 40,640 visitors attended the nine-day event.
In addition to those who came to the EXPO specifically for the
showcase, others had a variety of reasons for visiting,
including being interested in it after seeing it on
television, in newspapers, online news, or social media posts
during the EXPO period, as well as those who stopped by while
touring the EXPO site.

Check-in Area
In the check-in area, we introduced the concept and direction
of the next-generation information and communications
infrastructure, Beyond 5G, along with a message from the MIC.
We also provided an introduction to the showcase's
concept, venue layout, and experience.
ZONE 1: Prologue Theater
In ZONE 1, visitors enjoyed a dynamic video presentation on a
180-degree screen.
ZONE 2: Future City Area + Technology Experience Booth
In the Future City area of ZONE 2, an image of a future city
in the Beyond 5G era was projected onto the wall.
At the Technology Experience Booth, visitors used AR and other
technologies to simulate future life made possible by
next-generation communications, such as a lunar base or the
remote operation of underwater robots.
ZONE 3: Beyond 5G Development Technology Exhibit
In ZONE 3, researchers explained the latest technologies
currently under development that support Beyond 5G using panel
displays, videos, and actual devices.
Not only visitors from the communications industry but also
families, students, and children gave positive feedback, such
as, "I was able to learn about communications technology
in an easy-to-understand way," and "The exhibit was
in line with the EXPO theme, and it's a shame it's
only available for a limited time."
In addition, this event received extensive coverage from a
wide range of media outlets, including television, newspapers,
and online news, providing an opportunity to promote the event
to a wider audience.

【Post EXPO Initiatives】
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications will
effectively utilize the knowledge and information gained
through the "Beyond 5G ready showcase" to further
promote various policies for next-generation information and
communications while also contributing to the creation of a
legacy for the Osaka-Kansai EXPO.
Future Developments: Disseminating Information at Major
Events
As a specific initiative, we will actively disseminate the
results of the "Beyond 5G ready showcase" at major
events both in Japan and abroad. We have already implemented
the following two initiatives and will continue to seize
opportunities to disseminate information.
First, we introduced the results of this event at a technology
exhibit by Japanese stakeholders that was in conjunction with
the 49th ITU-R SG5 WP5D Meeting, held at Kobe Fashion Mart
from Tuesday, June 24 to Thursday, July 3, 2025. The
technology exhibit was held for three days, from Tuesday, June
24 to Thursday, June 26, 2025, during the meeting period, and
it featured digest videos and panels showcasing the events
held at the EXPO site.
Next, we set up a booth at the "COMNEXT 3rd
Next-Generation Communications Technology & Solutions
Expo," Japan's leading telecommunications
exhibition, held at Tokyo Big Sight from July 30 to August 1,
2025. We showcased our efforts through digest videos, panels,
and materials explaining the implementation results, and we
distributed them to attendees from the communications industry
and other sectors.
■Continued Virtual Experience
To enable even more people to experience the appeal of the
"Beyond 5G ready showcase," we are continuing to
hold a "Virtual Event" that allows visitors to
easily experience the same content as the On-site Event
online. This virtual experience provides an opportunity to
experience a glimpse of future communications technology,
regardless of time or location. The experience will be
available until Monday, October 13, 2025, the closing date of
the Osaka-Kansai EXPO. Through these activities, the Ministry
of Internal Affairs and Communications will further build
momentum for the arrival of the Beyond 5G era.
