【Reflection】
On Global Accessibility Awareness Day (15 May 2025), SG Enable
put the spotlight on inclusion at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan,
underscoring its importance as the foundation of a thriving
society. As the focal agency for disability and inclusion, SG
Enable hosted a thought-provoking panel discussion at the
Singapore Pavilion, bringing together voices from design,
architecture, hospitality, accessibility and assistive
technology to share insights on what inclusion looks like and
reimagine how we shape our spaces and experiences for
everyone.
Visitors to the pavilion were also treated to a vibrant
showcase of 15 artworks by talented Singaporean artists with
disabilities - part of the i'mable Public Education
movement and its ongoing partnership with with the National
Day Parade, forming part of the 60 Dreams Collection at the
pavilion, contributed by diverse communities in Singapore.
Together with the Singapore Tourism Board, the stunning
Singapore Pavilion was thoughtfully made accessible (e.g.
wheelchair-friendly routes and sensory-friendly exhibit
information), complemented by disability awareness training to
staff to enhance the visitors' experience.
We are grateful to the Singapore Tourism Board for the
opportunity to showcase inclusion on the global stage, our
social service partners for journeying with us, and our
distinguished speakers from academia, as well as the public
and private sectors, for lending their voices to this
important global conversation on building a more inclusive and
accessible world.
Also thankful to the Expo Association, as well as the Canada
and Singapore Pavilions for their support in connecting us to
include an additional speaker, Dr Henry Tsang from the Canada
Pavilion for added vibrancy to the discussion. Highlights from
the Fireside Chat and comments from the participants were
captured in the following post,

【Post EXPO Initiatives】
The panel sparked engaging conversations and drew keen
interest from attendees, who heard from experts in design,
architecture, hospitality, accessibility, and assistive
technology held at the Singapore Pavilion.
In addition to discussions and cross-visits to other
pavilions, organisations who were at the event had
cross-connected to discuss potential opportunities and
explored collaborations for their work in this area. To ensure
global reach and awareness of this event, we shared the event
on the GAAD website
(https://www.accessibilityassociation.org/event-category/a1AIV00000IFhyr2AD/global-accessibility-awareness-day-gaad),
which will go toward spurring onward conversation and progress
for inclusivity.
